Today, I finally finished reading English.Big literary giant of dickens a tale of two cities, for the first time to see the name of this book is deep to attract the Lord my implementation and curiosity, dare to try, it is so mysterious, so thick & hellip;& hellip; But I still have the courage to read it.

"Tale of two cities" is about 1775 & mdash;& ndash; This chaotic period in 1785 which is one of the worlds most prosperous and the most chaotic, the dirtiest of Britain and France, the two country, I wanted the whole novel main show Lucys family and great friendship between friends, the greatest love of all.Lucy was the daughter of a French doctor, manette. She was gentle, beautiful, and kind to win the hearts of many men, including her later husband, darrie, and finally her husband, carton, who was guillotined for her happiness.Love is sincere, between them is great, of course, one of the most kind, the kindest person always help the family, it was only a little light in the unrest, he is Luo Duan, he always care about Lucy and her family, pour the love of his life in the family, and love them more than to love yourself. At the same time, he is a dedicated merchant, he was a little conscience, a miniature of the kind of people, an essence, Lucys husband ray is France to later generations, and as to recognize the SINS of his family, waiver marquis title and inheritance, to the UK alone, he is humble, treats people with sincerity, like Luo Duan is a real gentleman. He left his property to the French people, but his heart did not get good result, and then after the bastille was captured in 1778, he was a loyal servant letter pleading, back to the stranger began his rescue work in France, however, when he first set foot on French territory was put into the fox prison, to escape the noblemans charges charges will be on trial.Nate doctor ma, Lucy have also come to France to save him, Luo Duan in France, just use the horse nate crouched bastille influence to reach him, however, fate always makes good people troubled. As he was released on the day of the evening was caught again, is this a horse nate used by the manuscript was in prison, his son-in-law on the guillotine, at this time has been protected in a card played a great lawyer his function, finally with his own life, Lucy is in a happy, at Lucys mind set up the image of a tall forever, it is great to love and be loved.

Caton is an intelligent, very clever, insight very strong professional lawyers, if in today, he must have called the law of celebrities, but at the time the hero useless, therefore, he can only use wine to pour out all the troubles, as well as the fate brought him great trauma. In the eyes of others he is always idle, depraved, of course except Lucy.

Besides, there were miss pross, Lucys faithful servant and friend, and the bad character, which brought hope to the people.

The French people I have been so inclined to lament are not so perfect as I thought they were, and in this book they show more of the evil nature of their revolution.

This book of Shuangcheng is the shortest one of the fourteen famous novels by the famous writer Dickens in nineteenth Century, but it is also the most dangerous and tortuous. One of the most thrilling.

This book mainly tells a love story, the story of the Carlton, he is a lawyer, but he always careless since he met Lucy female doctor Magnet, has complained to her, this let Lucy know he has a good heart. And he was dee* in love with her. But Caton knew that he has been unable to restore himself, put the heart to treasure up, finally, to Caton Lucys happiness, but for their long and easily die danay as like as two peas. And the sons of Lucy after danay in generations handed a name - Sidney Caton.

After reading this book, I was in deep thought: why cant Mrs. de France day give up hate and give up all of them, just like Dr. Magnet? All Caton could easily die for Lucy, and the German law, but Mrs. to their home or hate blindfolded, see danay wanted to kill all the people, isnt happy, happy the rest of his life? Think of this, I was innocent and the whole family left Caton danay tears.

This book is my understanding of being a man with a broad mind.

Impression after reading Ode to a nightingale

After reading Ode to a nightingale, I felt my blood boiled, I was on fire and full of enthusiasm and just could not calm down. It is so romantic and I had been touched so much. In fact, although the title of the poem is “Ode to a nightingale”, throughout the poem, it has basically little words describing the nightingale directly however the writer mainly uses the graceful image of nightingale to express his own feelings. It is said that a nightingale will die on a full moon night. And at midnight, it will fly to the highest rose-tree, and uses the thorn scratch its chest, then makes out a sonorous sound, singing loudly until the blood of the heart dries and reds the roses on the branches. Meanwhile this sound of singing seems like could penetrate everywhere and everything and keep an eternal life. I see the energy and hope of life and a bright future, and suddenly get courage and become positive. I think the poem makes me feel in that way.

And the author of Ode to nightingale is John Keats who is a Romantic Poet from UK. He was born at a poor family in the end of 18 century in London. In 1818, when Keats was 23 years old he got tuberculosis while also was dee* in love with Miss Fannie Boone. Just under such a terrible condition which between agony, poverty and sweetness, Keats was quite enthusiastic, full of grief and indignation and kept the desire for life in his heart. Therefore, he wrote the poem Ode to a Nightingale on a sober night and companied with the loud sound of the birds.

It is acknowledged that the poet was in difficulties and tied out however at this time he heard the nightingale’s loud singing like an inspiring ring. His heart was moved by such sound of singing. I remember the poem was written like this, “That I may drink, and leave the world unseen, and with thee fade away into the forest dim. Fade far away, dissolve, and quite forget what thou amongst the leaves hast never known, The weariness, the fever, and the fret Here, where men sit and hear each other groan; Where palsy shakes a few, sad, last grey hairs.” The soft night and beautiful surroundings make Keats feel comfortable and enjoyable. Even though he does not know the names of the flowers, he feels them by heart and soul. What’ more, he absorbs in this world and hope he can always live in such a place where is far from that dark society. Ode to a Nightingale has a clear feature of romance, Keats uses perfect metaphors, gorgeous and quite fluent words to express his strong ideas and deep desire to free world. And I consider the British romance style reaches perfection from Keats.

  胜利者,狂热、激动、麻木、粗暴;

  胜利者,狂热、激动、麻木、粗暴;

  法国大革命爆发,低层百姓推翻贵族得到了自由,这是最好的时代,这是天堂之路;

A tale of two cities is one of dickens"s most important representative works. Long before writing a tale of two cities, dickens is very concern on the French revolution, reread the British historian, Carlyle"s "French revolution" and other scholar"s related works. His strong interest of the French revolution began in the British lurking at the time the concerns of the serious social crisis. At the end of 1854, he said: "I believe that dissatisfaction like smoke fire up worse than, this special like the public before the French revolution for the first time, it"s danger, for one thousand kinds of reasons, such as poor harvest, the nobility of bossy and incompetent the already tense situation last to defeat in war, overseas and domestic events and so on -- into that have never seen a terrible fire." Visible, a tale of two cities of the historical novel creation motive sees, in the history of the French revolution experience for reference, to the bell of the ruling class; At the same time, through the extreme portrayal of the revolutionary terrorist, also to harbor resentment, attempting to violence against the tyranny of the masses, warned that fantasy for the status quo of social contradictions increasingly deepen to find a way out.

Starting from this purpose, the novel profoundly revealed before the French revolution dee* intensified the social contradictions, strongly criticized aristocracy dissolute brutal, and deep sympathy for the lower people"s suffering. Work pointedly said, the people"s patience is limited, under the cruel rule of the noble class, the people under the livelihood, is bound to fight. This kind of resistance is justice. Novel in people"s uprising against the bastille, etc, was also depicted spectacular scenes, shows the great power of the people. However, author station on the bourgeois humanitarian grounds, namely against brutal tyranny which oppressed the people, people also objected to revolt against the tyranny of the violence. In Charles Dickens, the revolution is portrayed as a great disaster of destruction, it ruthlessly punish evil gentry class, also kill innocent people blindly.

The novel created three types of characters. Category is urban Mr Monte marquis brother as a representative of the feudal aristocracy, they only unshakable philosophy is "oppression", is the author of pain and flay object. Another kind is to cut stone couples, such as the revolutionary masses. It must be pointed out that their image is distorted. Such as cutting stone wife, Diana, she was born in peasant, insulted, persecution of the feudal nobles with great hatred, the author dee* sympathize with her misery, really appreciated her strong personality, before and after the revolution, excellent talents and extraordinary leadership ability; But when revolution is further thorough, a pen and put her as a ruthless, fierce, narrow avenger. Especially when her to the doctor house raids dasey, "and the path is characterized by more bloodthirsty men. Finally, the author let her die under his muzzle, makes it clear that the negative attitude. The third kind is ideal character, the author thinks to humanitarian resolving social contradictions, in order to love overcome hatred, including speech, father and daughter, darnay, unquestioned and Carl"s, etc. Meini, the doctor is marquis brother may have caused the destruction of the marquis brother with great hatred, but for the sake of her daughter"s love, can abandon the old feud hate; Darnay is marquis brother"s sons and nephews, his big end, condemn the sin of his family abandoned the rank of nobility and property, are determined to "sin" with their own actions. This to reflect the character of each other, one is the victim of the aristocratic tyranny and tolerance for pregnant; One is the successor to the noble marquis, advocate benevolence. Among them, more as a daughter and wife ". Hold in the bond of love, they form a mutual understanding, emotion harmonious happy family. This is obviously the author thought a violent revolution and the opposite way out of resolving social contradictions, is unrealistic.

A tale of two cities is different from general historical novel, its character and the main plot are imaginary. During the French revolution broad real background, the author clues to give priority to with fictional characters meini, doctor"s experience, the unjust charge three independent each other, love and revenge and interconnected stories interweave together, intricate plot, intricate plot. The author take the flashbacks, interleave technique such as, stage, bedding, make the novel complete structure, tense and dramatic plot twists and turns, showed excellent artistic skills. A tale of two cities style solemn, depressed, etc, but the lack of humor early works.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incre*ty, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way

Charles Dickens(1812~1870),one of the greatest novelist in England. I have read his A tale of two cities .And this is the beginning of the book.

“A Tale of Two Cities”, one of Dickens’ works, is a well-known long story. And it has a great influence on the society at that time. When I saw the title at first, I thought it might tell something about the developing process of two cities, which might be no fun. However, after reading it , I found I had been wrong.

It portrays a brutal, bloody and revengeful society as well as love and friendship. It happened before and after the Revolution in France. The ruthless and cruel landowners and noblemen exploited the miserable people who owned nothing, but these poor people worked for others day and night. Noblemen had the power that one word would doubtlessly send others to prison. As time passed by, the noise of the coming-up revolution storm in Paris was growing louder and louder. At last, it was on the fourteenth of July, 1789 that the revolution broke out.

“The Bastille and its officers were in the hands of people, and the people wanted revenge and blood.” The true Freedom of France came. “The Guillotine, the new machine of death, cut off the heads of many, many people—not only the powerful and the cruel, but also the beautiful, the innocent, and the good.” Among the good, there was a man called Darney. Even though his father, wife and friends knew he was innocent, the people thought he was the enemy and would go to the Guillotine.

In spite of a shadow of fear and hate here and there, we can also see the great and kind persons. I think the greatest person is Mr. Manette who had been a prisoner in the Bastille for eighteen years. What he suffered was difficult to imagine, but he was still kind and loved his daughter. He did his best to save his son-in-law, whose father and uncle were the men that had ever sent him to prison. Another great man is the lawyer, Sydney Carton, a friend of Darney. Before Darney went to Guillotine, Mr. Carton changed places with him and he said, “It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever know.” Besides, the story is full of love, including the love between father and daughter, the love between husband and wife, the love among friends and so on. In short, only if you have love in your heart, the life is meaningful. At the same time, the revenge will run away with you, freedom and happiness will be around you.

There is no doubt that Charles Dickens is one of the greatest writers

in English. From this book, I see some true lives and moving stories from the old ages. I think you must feel the same as me that we don’t want to live in that condition. To be frank, we all look forward to living in a peaceful and love situation. Though the present life has improved a lot, there are still wars in some places. All that we need is to solve the problems in peaceful ways instead of by force. So let’s work hard together in order to make our life much more meaningful and happier, make our society more harmonious.

Recently I read a novel called A Tale of Two Cities. The novel is based on the French Revolution. It was 1775,both England and France were on the verge of Revolution .Englands king ,George Ⅲ,was having trouble with his American colonies .And France s king ,LouisⅩⅥ, was too concerned with his own wealth to worry about his people .

Therefore, neither king noticed the changes taking place in his country .They didnt realize ,or care ,that the peasants were hungry and unhappy .They never thought that anything was wrong with the way things were .They were wealthy ,and they thought only of themselves.

But the peasants were tired of being treated unfairly. They were tired of watching the kings waste money while their own children starved. So, in both London and Paris, the lower classes prepared to revolt .They were ready to force the kings to make a change.

Then one day in July of 1789, the Revolution began in France .Armed peasants ran through the streets of Saint Antoine .Their leader, Ernest Defarge continued to pass out weapons. The men cheered and waved their weapons in the air .Then, they marched toward the Bastille.

The novel also talks the story of two men, Charles Darnay and Sydney Carton., who look similar but are very different in personality. Darnay is a romantic French aristocrat, his uncle is the Marquis St.

Evremonde. The Marquis is infamous for his cruelty. While is a cynical English barrister. However, the two are in love with the same woman, Lucie Manette.

Charles Darnay is not cruel like his uncle has been. When he knew his servant is in danger, he went to France at once to defend him. He had promised his mother that he would help the peasants. He had a hard time traveling through France. When he finally reached Paris, he was taken prisoner. In my point of view, Charles Darnay is innocent, he is not cruel.

The other one is Sydney Carton.

In my opinion, he is a wonderful man. He once said,‘I am not worthy of your love, but I want you to know that I wish for your happiness. I hope that we will able to remain close friends. Miss Manette, I would give my life for you. Never forget that, Lucie.’ Eventually, he was to die in Charles Darnay’s place. Because Charles Darnay is Lucie’s husband, and they led a happy life. In order to help Lucie live a enjoyable life, he was to die in Charles Darnay’s place.

From the novel A tale of two cities .I learn much ,not only the Revolution in two different cities ,but also the deep relationship between people .Im impressed by Mr. Manettes tough spirit ,never give in to difficulties .Even though he had been imprisoned a long time ,he struggled to live. He was also an upright man .When his son -in -law was arrested by the Revolutionists, Dr.Manette strongly defended Charles Darnay ,hoped that the Revolutionists could release Charles Darnay .

Lucie Manette gives me a deep impression .At the beginning of the novel, I learn that her father had passed, but then,Mr. Lorry told her that her father was still alive. Because Lucie s father was imprisoned for a long time .Her mother begged the king to help her ,but he gave no re* .She suffered terribly when her husband disappeared ,so she told her daughter that her father had died .But she never stopped looking for Lucies father .The king was of no help ,and she never found even one clue .Two years after his disappearance ,she died .

I am dee* impressed by the other characters in the novel.

Mr.Lorry is also a good man ,at the first of the novel ,when he met Miss Lucie ,and told her that her father was still alive .Besides ,he helped her

to find her father in Paris .On the way to Paris ,they experienced many difficulties .But Mr.Lorry didnt give up helping Miss Lucie and Lucie s father .As far as I concerned ,it not only show his hospitality but also show his hatred to the European royal.

In Paris, the Marquis St. Evrémonde, Darnays uncle, is returning from an audience with Monseigneur, one of the greatest lords in France, when his coach runs over and kills the son of the peasant Gaspard; he throws a coin to Gaspard to compensate him for his loss; in the assembled crowd is the implacable tricoteuse, Madame Defarge. He throws the money back, enraging the Marquis and leading him to exclaim that he would willingly kill any of the peasants of France.

If I were a peasant at that time in England or France,I would join in the revolution with no hesitation .All man are equal .The king of country should concern his people whether they are starving or homeless .We can learn much from history in our country or in other countries ,only when the leader of the country cares much about his peoples life can the country be stronger .People are the base of the country ,without people ,country can not be stronger and can not develop.

Today, I finally finished reading English. Big literary giant of dickens a tale of two cities, for the first time to see the name of this book is deep to attract the Lord my implementation and curiosity, dare to try, it is so mysterious, so thick... Still, I had the courage to read it.

A tale of two cities is the chaos that occurred in 1775-1785 which is one of the worlds most prosperous and the most chaotic, the dirtiest of Britain and France, the two country, I wanted the whole novel main show Lucys family and great friendship between friends, the greatest love of all. Lucy is the daughter of a French doctor, manette. She was gentle, beautiful, and kind to win the hearts of many men, including her later husband, darley, and finally, for her happiness, her husband was sent to the guillotine. Love is sincere, between them is great, of course, one of the most kind, the kindest person always help the family, it was only a little light in the unrest, he is Luo Duan, he always care about Lucy and her family, pour the love of his life in the family, and love them more than to love yourself. He left his property to the French people, but his heart did not get good result, and then after the bastille was captured in 1778, he was a loyal servant letter pleading, back to the stranger began his rescue work in France, however, when he first set foot on French territory was put into the fox prison, to escape the noblemans charges charges will be on trial. Nate doctor ma, Lucy have also come to France to save him, Luo Duan in France, just use the horse nate crouched bastille influence to reach him, however, fate always makes good people troubled.

In the eyes of others he was always lazy and depraved, except Lucy.

Besides, there was miss pross, Lucys loyal servant and friend, who brought hope to the people, from bad to good.

It turns out that the French people Ive been bemoaning are not as perfect as I thought they were, and in this book they show more of the evil nature of their revolution.

A Tale of Two Cities was written by Charles Dickens, who was born in Portsmouth, England in 1812. As the second of eight children, Dickens had to go to work at the age of twelve to support his poor family, and he lived a difficult childhood. This troublesome time scarred him dee* and provided him with substantial material for such stories as Oliver Twist, David Copperfield, and Great Expectations. Though just accepted only little education, Dickens became a famous writer through his struggling self-learning and extremely hard work, and he was the representative writer of realism in the 19th century.

Charles Dickens lived in the period of transition between feudalism and capitalism, when the industrial revolution originated in England swept through Europe. As large numbers of workers invaded into urban centers to earn a living, the bourgeois took advantages of the surplus of labor by keeping wages low. The poor thus remained poor, and often lived in a narrow and filthy environment. Dickens’ writing depicted various directions about this society, and provided a keen, sympathetic chronicle of the plight of the urban poor.

A Tale of Two Cities mainly about the great atrocities of French aristocrats compelled the poor citizens to resist violently. Doctor Manette spent eighteen years as a prisoner in Bastille because he intended to expose the atrocity after learning that

Marquis Evrémonde killed a beautiful farmwife and her younger brother because of his brother’s lust. After Doctor Manette was free again, his daughter Lucie got married with Charles Darnay, Marquis Evrémonde’s nephew, but chose to live in England because he could not accept the cruel injustices of the French social system and the snobbish and cruel values of his uncle. However, Marquis Evrémonde continued his atrocities. After his crazy carriage crushed over a farmer’s little baby as if nothing happen, he was killed at night. A revolutionary storm was brewing. Mr. and Mrs.Defarge were the revolutionaries in the poor Saint Antoine section of Paris. They wanted to kill all French aristocrats, including Charles Darnay. Mr.Defarge used to be Doctor Manette’s servant, so he was kind to Manettes, while his wife’s heart burned with longing for revenge. At last, Charles Darnay was judged to death, But Sydney Carton, a lawyer who loved Lucie dee*, willing to die instead of Darnay, as they had similar appearance.

From my personal point of view, the person A Tale of Two Cities described astounded me very much. Some of them were cruel, crazy and reasonless, while some of them were kind, moral and had own mind.

Sydney Carton was the person I thought the most. He was a smart attorney, without his help, Mr. Stryver could not solve any cases. But he was lazy, alcoholic, and cared nothing and nobody, he even could not find any interests in his own life, it seems that he lived just for wasting life. But he loved Lucie dee*. Finally, he became a hero, because he sacrificed his life to save Darnay. I didn’t know why the author spent so many words to form such a strange guy at frist, he used his life to love Lucie, after all. But now, I caught it. Perhaps the terrible Carton symbolized the terrible old France, and his change in the end shown that everything could change, including the old France, a new and fine society would replace the violence.

Then, Charles Darnay. He was worthy of esteem or respect. He displayed great virtue in his rejection of his uncle, Marquis Evrémonde. Money and power meant nothing to him, if they came from exploitation and oppression. Even though he had to inherit his uncle’s bequest, he left them to the poor and lived in London throught his own effort. When he realized that he must go back to Paris to help Gabelle, one of his servants, and make right the wrong his uncle had done, he acted without hesitation because he knew that was his duty. He even refused Carton’s help after he was judged to death. I thought, Charles Darnay was a shiny diamond in that cruel and violent society, and he was a hope, the hope of equality and peace.

Third, Mrs.Defarge. How crazy this woman was. Nobody could stop her steps toward revenge, except the death. Although it said that wherever there is oppression, there is resistance, I didn’t agree with Mrs.Defarge totally. Her resistance was inhumane, insensible and endless. For just as the aristocracy’s oppression had made an oppressor Mrs.Defarge herself, so will her oppression, in turn, make oppressors her victims. In the end of the novel, her death by a bullet from her own gun. It shown the author’s belief that inordinate retaliated lust would destroy one own self.

On the whole, A Tale of Two Cities is a successful novel. It shows us oppression and resistance, violence and terror, revolution and vengeance, love and friendship.

I am lucky enough to live in the 21st century, when peace and development are pursued all along. Nowadays, there also are many problems and dissensions among this world, but violence does not the best way problems are solved. Violence just creates more problems, something every sensible person knows. What we need are talks and communication. The time A Tale of Two Cities mentions has gone, we should do enough preparation to adapt the coming age.

There is no doubt that Charles Dickens is one of the greatest writers in English.

(A tale of two cities)英文读后感2

Crazily, but truthfully, I finished reading the most part of the novel "A Tale of Two Cities" in just one day. Lost in the story, I felt like being together with the characters and experiencing the same exciting events. Soon it came to an end. To tell you my feelings, its infinite sadness and a strong emotion that can drive me to cry.

The story is set in London and Paris at the time of the great French Revolution. It shows the causes of revolution and its effects on peoples day-to-day lives. Before the revolution, the King and the aristocracy treated their people cruelly in France. The common people were extremely poor and miserable. The crops in the fields were poor as if even the land shared the misery of the people. And there were so heavy taxes that all the villagers had nothing to hand over at last. On the other hand, the aristocracy made their will as the law by using money and gold. There were no justice, no equality and no fairness. Just as what happened to Dr Manette,he wrote to the Minister to show the crime what Marquis Evremonde had done, resulting in himself being arrested and sent to the prison Bastille without any reason.

Then this situation of darkness was needed to be changed. As people such as the Defarges prepared and arranged, at length the Revolution came to break out. When the Bastille was captured and the King was tried and put to death as well as many other aristocrats, things didnt go on as what they had been expected. The situation stayed the same, or even worse. The prisoners from the Bastille were set free while more prisons were filled with people who had done no wrong again. People who once lived on the bottom of class took the charge now and their heart had been full of evil. The only thing they wanted to do was to revenge. And these so-called "patriots" would like to see more and more innocent prisoners going to the guillotine and thats their joy. As the novel wrote,” In everything they did were merciless, for they had been hardened in the fires of suffering and the touch of pity could make no mark on them".

Equality and fairness is what people seek, which led to the French Revolution. As a consequence, neither equality nor fairness was got after the revolution. And thats the tragedy of the history.I was heavyhearted when reading what Sydney Carton said before death and I burst into tears finally.
